I am fascinated that the rehab, health and fitness industries still demonise certain muscles and glorify others.
Fundamentally, all of your muscles have a role to play. Some are made for power, others for fine tuning, proprioception or force transmission. They each have roles that they are perfectly designed to fulfil.
If something is grumpy, and something else seems lazy, mostly it comes down to how you are using yourself. That means movement. Mindful movement, connected movement, coordinated, efficient, just-the-right-amount-for-the-job movement.
Don’t just exercise hard: move beautifully!
